WASSCE 2025: ‘We’ll dismiss any staff, invigilator who engages in exam malpractice’ — GES

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has vowed to implement stringent measures to clamp down on examination malpractice during the upcoming 2025 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).

This year’s WASSCE for school candidates in Ghana is scheduled to take place from August 5 to September 12.

In a statement dated July 25, the GES revealed that its Council has approved the dismissal of any staff—whether teaching or non-teaching—as well as invigilators and supervisors found engaging in examination malpractice.

“In line with efforts to uphold the integrity of the examination process, the general public is informed that the GES Council has given approval to GES to dismiss any teaching/non-teaching staff, invigilator or supervisor who is found engaging in examination malpractice during the WASSCE,” part of the statement read.

It added that students caught engaging in malpractice will also face severe sanctions.

According to the GES, the decision forms part of a broader effort to restore and protect the integrity, credibility, and fairness of the WASSCE.

“Any act of collusion, leakage of exam materials, aiding candidates, or compromise of examination procedures will attract dismissal from the Service,” the statement emphasized.

The Service further reminded all examination personnel of the trust and responsibility placed on them and urged them to carry out their duties with the highest level of professionalism and ethics.

“Regional and District Directors are to ensure this directive is fully communicated and enforced across all examination centres,” the GES added.
